Bal with Duo Mistral
On Bouge comes South of the River!
Caroline and Chris Shaw, stalwarts of the UK French Balfolk family, are with us again in October.
They love to play dances from Gascony and southwestern France, such as Marianna (Caroline shows us how!) and Auvergnat bourrées, as well as some lovely Breton tunes, and tunes they write themselves, like Chris's Willow Express, famous from GIGCB's ceilidhs in France and the UK. Caroline's strong rhythmic fiddle style, working with Chris's box playing, gives us a great repertoire for dancing and listening. They proudly play fiddles made by Jean-Pierre Champeval, Caroline also plays boha, a south-west bagpipe. After retiring from running the legendary London-based French dance club On Bouge for decades, they've now come back out on the road for festivals and little clubs like ours. You're guaranteed a great night!
